Simple Restore Tutorial with ShadowBack

ShadowBack supports a feature called "Simple Restore". It is intended to allow people to restore lost data to their computer quickly and simply. Users who wish to have fine control over which files to restore and where they would go should use the ShadowBack feature, "Advanced Restore".

To get to the Simple Restore screen bring up the Main Screen by double clicking on the Shadow Back icon on the desktop, clicking on the ShadowBack program icon from the start menu, or double clicking on the ShadowBack icon in the system tray next to the clock. The Simple Restore button is on the right hand side at the top. Click on it. This will bring up the Simple Restore Dialog.

The black area on the bottom shows what device ShadowBack will restore from. To change it, click on the Options button on the bottom left hand corner.

If the computer has suffered complete data loss and you would like to restore all of the old computer's files back to their original location, click on the Restore button. If there was only partial data loss, you can restore to a folder; once the files have been restored there, you can access them through Windows Explorer to reorganize or restore them to their original locations.

If it is necessary to pick exactly which files need to be restored, please try the Advanced Restore option.

With you click on one of the restore buttons, ShadowBack will attempt to load the list of files that have been backed up to backup. With removable drives it will ask for a disk if its drive is empty and then begin the restore. Follow displayed instructions whenever it asks for more media and soon the restore will be complete.
