How
Often Should I Back-up?
The
quick easy answer to this question goes something like this: If
your computer died this very instant, how nervous would you be
about losing any of your work? If the answer is "very nervous,"
then you don't back up often enough, and you should back up more
often until you're never nervous about your computer dying.
Fortunately,
with ShadowBack, you don't even need to think about this question.
When starting a backup, ShadowBack will ask, "Would you like
to turn on Realtime Backup after this backup is done? Realtime
Backup can automatically back-up all of the files that change
after this backup is done." With this option on, ShadowBack
will monitor which files change on your computer, and back them
up as they change.
Of
course, we at Warm and Fuzzy Logic recommend that users use ShadowBack
so that their computers are always up to date with their backups,
but regardless which software you choose, make sure that you back-up
your computer and do it often. There is nothing quite like the
pain of knowing that a project that you slaved over for six weeks
is now gone forever, or that your child's treasured term paper
for eighth grade English will have to be written all over again.
